How Blogo works

What holds a draft, and what is only a suggestion

Blogo’s final review puts every finding into one of two groups. The first group must be settled before the draft can be sent to WordPress: things that would be wrong, unsupported, broken or invented. The second group is suggestions about how the page reads, and they never stop you. There is no overall rating: a single unsettled item in the first group holds the draft, however good the rest is.

Facts and figures that hold a draft

These come from the fact check and the figure check.

  • A statement the web check found wrong or out of date.
  • A statement about health, safety, law or certification that could not be confirmed.
  • A figure that is in neither your own answers and brand details nor on the page linked in its sentence.
  • A fact check that was never run, or was run on an earlier version of the text.

Content that holds a draft

These are found by code reading the draft, your answers and your site’s other articles.

  • A named person or a customer story that your own answers do not contain.
  • A sentence of ten words or more that already appears, word for word, in two or more other articles on your site.
  • Too little that is new. When Blogo has read at least three ranking pages, the draft must contain at least three things they do not say. Only two things count: a sourced figure none of them states, and a sentence built on one of your answers.
  • A structure your writing plan requires, such as a comparison table or a checklist, that is missing.
  • A statement that breaks one of your brand rules.
  • No real author. The site needs a named person behind its articles, not a blank or a placeholder.

Links and pictures that hold a draft

Links and pictures are tested against the exact text being sent.

  • A dead link.
  • A link to a site on your do-not-link list.
  • Fewer links to your own published pages than required: two, or fewer when your site has fewer suitable pages.
  • A picture without a passed visual check for that position, or without a source and licence credit.
  • On a landing or category page, a link to another business.

What is only a suggestion

Suggestions appear in the review under a heading that says they are optional. They do not disable the send button.

  • A figure-free statement on an ordinary subject that no page was found to back. The suggestion is to remove it or say it as your own view.
  • A confirmed statement on a sensitive subject, flagged for a second look.
  • Writing habits: stock phrases, too many qualifiers such as “typically”, too many dashes, paragraphs that open with a textbook definition, the exact keyword repeated too often, sentences that all start the same way.
  • The main keyword missing from the title or a heading, or a related keyword missing from the text.
  • An FAQ section missing although real search questions exist, or present although none were found.
  • Source quality: no official or institutional source among the outside links, or a weak one where a stronger one would help.

What you can do about a held draft

Many holds can be cleared by the automatic fix: wrong values, figures without a source, invented stories, repeated sentences. It also tidies the writing habits listed above in the same pass, although they would not have held the draft.

One hold cannot be fixed by rewriting. If the page lacks new information, the review asks you to answer another question from your own experience, or to add a source with data the ranking pages do not cite. Blogo does not run a paid rewrite for this, because a rewrite cannot produce facts that are not there.

Brand-rule holds are yours to decide: rewrite the draft, or edit the rule if the rule is what is out of date.

Questions

Can I send a held draft to WordPress anyway?
No. The send button stays disabled until every item in the first group is settled. Suggestions never disable it.
Does a longer article pass more easily?
No. Length is not one of the checks. The length range taken from the ranking pages is guidance for the writer, and the writer is told to stop when the evidence runs out.
Why would a sentence repeated across my site hold a draft?
The same sentence on three or more of your pages reads as a template and tells the reader nothing new. The check ignores short sentences, headings, tables and picture credits, and the automatic fix can reword the sentence for this page.
What if Blogo could not read the ranking pages?
Then the new-information check is not applied. It is only used when at least three ranking pages were read, because with fewer there is nothing fair to compare against.
If I edit the text myself, do the checks still count?
Not for the changed version. Each check is tied to the exact text it inspected, so the review asks for it to be run again.
